While many of us were trapped in gridlocked snowstorm traffic, Rep. Allen Peake, R-Macon, formally introduced House Bill 885, which would allow medical marijuana use in Georgia.
According to our media affiliate CBS Atlanta, Peake introduced the bill on Jan. 28. It’s known as Haleigh’s Hope Act in honor of a young girl with a severe form of epilepsy. The bill has support from the Medical Association of Georgia and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Yesterday, the bill went for a second house reading and it hould be assigned to the House Health & Human Services Committee. The bill will need 91 signatures from the House, 29 in the Senate and a signature from the governor to become reality.

That’s nice, but how about legalizing all marijuana. Why must we play these games with baby steps? It’s a plant and we are not the children of our government employees!
