800 Glenwood Avenue retail center proposal from Fuqua Development
The original 800 Glenwood Avenue retail center proposal from Fuqua Development

The Grant Park Neighborhood Association is hosting a meeting on Sunday, Feb. 16, to discuss potential redesign plans to 800 Glenwood Avenue, which is where Fuqua Development wants to build a big-box retail center. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the ARC Building, Coca-Cola World Theater (Zoo Atlanta, Cherokee Avenue parking lot).

The future of the Glenwood property, which is along the Atlanta BeltLine, has been contentious. Fuqua has filed suit against the city of Atlanta for retro-actively rezoning the property last summer to prevent big-box retail. Although never confirmed, the big box in question is rumored to be a Walmart.

According to a report in Creative Loafing, Fuqua has indicated he might be willing to compromise on the site’s plan.
