The Georgia House has voted 171-4 to approve a bill that would legalize a type of medical marijuana to treat certain seizure disorders, according to a report from CBS46. The bill will now go to the Senate. Rep. Allen Peake’s bill would revive a long-dormant research program allowing academic institutions to distribute medical cannabis to those suffering from medical conditions. The cannabis oil would be administered orally in a liquid form.

Georgia Senate Republicans passed new restrictions on Monday to make it illegal for state-sponsored insurance plans to pay for abortions, according to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Senate Bill 98 makes no exception for rape or incest, only for medical emergencies involving the life of the mother. It now goes to the state House for consideration.
