The Georgia Department of Transportation is sounding a traffic red alert for motorists traveling northbound on I-75/85 on Saturday. The four left lanes of the northbound Downtown Connector will be closed on March 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. between Langford Parkway and Central Avenue for a paving project.
GDOT is encoring motorists to find alternate routes or be faced with significant backups and delays.
“If you can avoid using the northbound Downtown Connector during the day on Saturday, do it,” said District Construction Engineer Shun Pringle. “We believe traffic will be very heavy all day.”
Another area where drivers can expect delays is at the I-85 at Georgia 400 as work continues on the new interchange. Two right northbound lanes will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Georgia 400 from I-85 to Sidney Marcus Boulevard for concrete work.
Various single lane closures will be in place in and around the State Route 400/I-85 Interchange project on routes including the Buford-Spring Connector (SR13), Cheshire Bridge Road, Sidney Marcus Boulevard and on 400. Some of these closures are during the day and some are at night.
