The Georgia Department of Transportation said it has a new fix to prevent thieves from continuing to steal storm grates from Georgia interstates, according to a report from WSB Channel 2. Thieves recently targeted grates on the I-75 off ramp to Northside Drive. Crews began replacing them with new ones that have a GDOT stamp on them, in case they ever end up at a recycle or scrap yard, and are locking them down.
Bernice King wants William Hill, the attorney representing her brothers, disqualified from the case, according to a report from our media affiliate CBS 46. Martin Luther King III and Dexter King hired Hill to represent them when Bernice King refused to turn over their father’s personal Bible and Nobel Peace Prize, which they wan to sell. Bernice King said Hill has a conflict of interest since he was previously accused of stealing money from the estate and putting it in a personal account.
Best-selling author James Patterson recently pledged $1 million to donate to independent booksellers as a way to increase awareness of their importance in communities, and Decatur’s Little Shop of Stories is benefitting from his generosity. According to a report in Creative Loafing, Little Shop of Stories will buy a bookmobile thanks to grant of $15,000 from Patterson.
