The board of Neighborhood Planning Unit-B has approved a plan to divide a lot at 471 Loridans Drive to allow construction of a new house.

During its May 6 meeting, The board voted 17-0, with one abstention, to approve the plan. The proposal now goes to the city of Atlanta’s Zoning Review Board.

NPU-B board members said the lot was part of the Potters Walk subdivision and several neighbors in the subdivision objected to dividing the property. They argued subdivision covenants prevented splitting the lot, board members said.

But Joe Ferguson, who said he has option to buy the lot and plans to build a house on it, said the covenants prohibit only the construction of more than one house per lot, not the division of existing lots.
