Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation began shifting travel lanes overnight on Wednesday to allow for demolition and removal of the remains of the former toll plaza.

Northbound lanes were shifted for Thursday morning’s commute and motorists will see a new configuration on Friday morning once the southbound lanes shift tonight.

The new configurations will continue to provide three travel lanes in each direction. Upon completion of the demolition in approximately two months, lanes again will be shifted into their permanent configuration.
