Poetry Atlanta is hosting a “non-stop” reading of poet Walt Whitman’s classic “Song of Myself” on Saturday, May 31, 7:30 p.m. at Java Monkey Coffee House, 425 Church St., in Decatur.

Organized by local poet and activist Rupert Fike, there will be more than 30 writers, poets, artists and musicians taking part in the reading, including acclaimed novelist Charles McNair, actress Mary Lynn Owen, filmmaker George King, poet Theresa Davis and INtown’s own Collin Kelley.

The “Non-Stop, Straight-Through Reading of Song of Myself,” which marks Whitman’s 195th birthday, is free and open to the public. A large crowd is expected, so arrive early to grab a seat.
