If you live or work around the site for the new Falcons/soccer stadium in southwest Downtown, you might hear a “very loud boom” this afternoon between 1 and 5 p.m., according to an alert from the Atlanta Police Department. The loud booms could continue each afternoon through June 11 as part of “testing” taking place on the site.

The alert also said: The test will produce a very loud boom that may alarm citizens within the immediate area of the stadium. However, it will only last for a second and is solely contained within the construction site. This is an active construction site and for safety reasons, spectators are not allowed.

Since no definition of “testing” was given, we did a little Googling and found this list of construction site tests.
