
You might have noticed crews installing large vertical panels on Corey Tower, the big smokestack visible from the Downtown Connector at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Advertising man Billy Corey is transforming the stack into a giant digital billboard, according to a report at Curbed Atlanta. “This will be a landmark for the city of Atlanta,” Corey said. “Like the Statue of Liberty. The [Gateway] Arch in St. Louis. The Space Needle in Seattle.”
A slow response by an insurance company is preventing basic repairs to the Garden Hills strip shopping center that uprooted six small businesses six months ago. According to a report in BuckheadView, strip owner Brand Properties is trying to resolve the issue with is insurance carrier after the Dec. 4 fire which destroyed Peachtree Bikes (which has since moved up Peachtree Road) and damaged leather goods merchant Flemings, chocolate retailer Cacao, dog retail shop Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming, Witzlib fitness center and SixT car rental agency.
