Robb Pitts has filed a lawsuit in the wake of his loss against John Eaves for the Fulton County Commission chairmanship during the May 20 primary. Pitts claims the ballot confused voters and wants a Fulton Superior Court  judge to invalidate the election so another one can be held during the July 22 runoff. Pitts had already called for a recount in the election and lost the seat by 303 votes. “This suit is indicative of behavior on Mr. Pitts’ part that has been self-serving and not to the benefit of his constituents or to this county,” Eaves said in a statement. “Instead, Mr. Pitts embarks on an unfortunate pattern of behavior that will result in the unnecessary expenditure of county funds. Thousands of YOUR tax dollars could be used to battle, what is by all accounts, a frivolous lawsuit.”

Selig Enterprises has sent an update on the Suburban Plaza redevelopment to the Medlock Area Neighborhood Association. Selig says facade renovations will begin this fall and completed redevelopment will be next summer. New tenants, including a Walmart, will open in fall 2015. Selig also seeks community feedback on a special land use permit to allow a drive-through Starbucks at Suburban Plaza.
