
The Georgia 400/MARTA Pedestrian Bridge will open to the public on June 24. The $32 million pedestrian bridge spans Georgia 400 – joining two disconnected quadrants and creating a new entrance to the Buckhead MARTA station. The bridge gives residents from Tower Place Drive and Stratford Road access to both sides of GA 400 and the train station. The bridge will open to the public after a noon ribbon cutting ceremony at the Buckhead MARTA station.
Award-winning writer Joyce Carol Oates will be the keynote speaker at this year’s AJC Decatur Book Festival during Labor Day weekend. Oates will launch her new short story collection with a talk on Aug. 29, 8 p.m., at the Schwartz Center at Emory University. On Aug. 30-31, more than 300 authors will descend on downtown Decatur for the festival, which will feature readings,workshops, a children’s parade and much more. Other notable authors scheduled to appear include Wiley Cash, Ann Hood, John Scalzi, Karen Abbott, Natasha Trethewey and Alan Gurganus.
