The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
Rape
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A rape was reported on May 27. A woman met the suspect at the location to have drinks. She told the suspect that she needed to charge her phone, and the suspect invited her to his room. She said the suspect pushed her onto his bed and forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse. The front desk staff said they saw the victim and suspect exit the hotel while engaged in casual conversation. The victim later returned to the hotel and called 911, advising she was raped.
900 block of Oak Valley Road, NE – A rape was reported on May 29. A woman said the suspect followed her on Lenox Road and grabbed her by her arm at the intersection of Lenox Road and Wright Avenue. She said the suspect dragged her approximately 500 hundred feet down the middle of the street, and pulled her toward an abandoned lot at the intersection of Oak Valley Road and Wright Avenue, where he forcibly engaged her in sexual intercourse. She said she tried to pull away and yelled “no” several times during the assault. In the hours prior to the victim’s report, there had been a heavy rain storm, and the lot where the victim said she was assaulted was saturated when investigators arrived. Her shoes did not have any grass clippings or moisture on them, and her off-white dress did not have any noticeable tears, grass stains or other noticeable damage. There were no bruises on the victim’s arms, shoulders or knees, and no abrasions on her palms. A sexual assault kit was completed at Grady Hospital and ID photographed the victim’s hands, arms and knees. No cameras were located during the preliminary investigation.
Assault
1900 block of Piedmont Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on May 20. The suspect pulled a knife on a man and fled in a black stretch vehicle. The vehicle was located traveling south on Piedmont Road. The suspect refused to comply with the officer’s verbal commands during the stop, but was detained. The victim responded to the scene and positively identified the suspect.
1500 block of Piedmont Avenue, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on May 22. A woman was told to leave the location because she constantly causes a disturbance. She refused, and when police arrived, she was acting belligerent with security and the police officer. She attempted to stab the officer in the neck with a six-inch toothpick, making contact with his skin, causing lacerations.
200 block of Deering Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on May 24. A man and his friends were walking to an apartment when they exchanged words with the maintenance man. He yelled at them to be quiet. The maintenance man pulled out a black revolver, pointed it at the victim, and the victim put his hands in the air. The suspect left and was not located when officers went to an apartment look for him. No injuries were reported.
1st block of Pharr Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on May 25. The suspect pushed the victim into a glass table after the victim called the suspect’s girlfriend fat, causing an open laceration on the victim’s right wrist. The suspect and victim are neighbors. No one answered the door when officers went to check the suspect’s apartment.
Northside Drive, NW/I-75 SB Ramp, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on May 25. A woman was in a verbal dispute with her boyfriend while they attended the Black Diamonds Club. They were arguing when they left. The woman said they continued arguing on I-75 SB when he threw her out of the vehicle while traveling 25-35 m.p.h. She was left stranded, but was eventually picked up by Grady bus 388.
1100 block of Woodland Avenue, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on May 26. A man heard a knock on his door and when he opened it, his neighbor yelled that he was tired of him snitching, then, sprayed him in the face with pepper spray. The suspect was located at his home, and he said he only pepper sprayed the victim’s dog. The pepper spray can was recovered.
1400 block of W. Paces Ferry Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on May 29. A woman said at Piedmont Hospital that her live-in boyfriend threw water on her, wrestled and pinned her on the bed, and slammed her on their couch after they argued over text messages. She was in a sling and splint, and was diagnosed with comminuted, slightly impacted fractured tuberoses of the right humeral head.
Robbery
700 block of Sidney Marcus Boulevard, NE – A commercial robbery was reported on May 20. Two young men entered the gas station and walked around the candy section. They walked out and then returned. One of them approached the cash register and presented a silver handgun. He demanded money from the register. The clerk handed him the cash register drawer that contained about $80. They fled the scene in a dark colored Acura. No injuries. There may be video of the incident.
4300 block of Roswell Road, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on May 21. A woman was walking through the parking lot of her boyfriend’s apartment complex when she was approached by a man who pointed a black gun at her. She said when he pointed the gun at her, she raised her jacket in front of her face and held out her arm with her purse on it. The man took the purse and ran down the driveway between the buildings.
2100 block of Monroe Drive, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on May 21. The arrestee was seen pushing the victim into a carwash in the area, and punching her in the face. He stole her cellphone.
3500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on May 23. The two victims were offered a ride by three suspects, from the Kroger to the Marriott. While in route, the suspects drew their weapons and demanded phones and money from the victims. The victims gave the suspects their phones and jumped out of the moving vehicle for their safety.
Burglary
2000 block of Defoors Ferry Ramp, NW – A commercial burglary was reported on May 19. Someone pried open the side door of the business, entered, and stole copies of employee pay stubs. There may be video of the incident.
1st block of Peachtree Valley Road, NE – A residential burglary was reported on May 23. No signs of forced entry. A woman said someone entered her apartment with a key, sat on her bed and ruffled the sheets, opened three of her drawers, but did not take anything. The suspect left a sticky note on her front door that read, “Trusting your prophet, so shall you prosper.” The woman said this was the third time that such a weird event occurred in her apartment, and she has only lived there for three weeks. She was adamant that no one knows where she lives.
2000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A residential burglary was reported on May 25. When a man returned to his apartment building, his friend yelled at him, saying he wanted his stuff out of the apartment. When the victim got to his apartment, a red fire extinguisher and the silver front door knob were lying in front of his door. The victim said he never entered the apartment building.
