As the Brookhaven PD continued its investigation of two similar drive-by shootings in the Ashford Park area Monday and Tuesday, residents took to the department’s Facebook page to express both concerns and kudos to police.
Police were urging residents to remain calm but vigilant. “Everyone is urged to remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings,” read a post on the department’s Facebook page. It may NOT be the time to stay locked inside, but it is the time to call 9-1-1 and report any suspicious activity, people, or vehicles in your neighborhood. We will continue our increased patrols in the area until this incident is resolved.”
Here’s a sampling of some comments from residents made on the police department’s Facebook page:
I know there are traffic cameras on Peachtree, and most likely Clairmont and Buford Highway. Surely you could cross reference this with those cameras and get a better look if not a tag number? – Jacob Willis
I’ve seen patrol cars riding by my house nonstop. – Jennifer Mims
Why haven’t we seen any patrols? I’m mad as hell! Let me guess they’re all “undercover” at least catch the speeders cutting through from the Post Apartments onto Green Meadows. I nearly got run over by two cars speeding this AM!! – Michelle Guess
BPD will get them….They got the best officers on the force! – Steve Morris
Its turning into the wild west around here – Clinton Fields
On Thursday, the police department released surveillance video of one of the shootings.
