Atlanta homicide detectives are investigating a deadly shooting in Virginia-Highland onThursday morning, according to a report from our media affiliate CBS46. A man in his 20s was found dead of a gunshot wounds in a car near The Real Chow Baby at 782 Ponce de Leon Ave. Police found him around 2:30 a.m. and said multiple gunshots were fired and that he was likely struck outside of the vehicle. “Based on the time, most likely there were other people in proximity, so we are asking if anybody has any information to call police or call Crimestoppers and pass that information on,” said Capt. Paul Guerucci with the Atlanta Police Department.

Vine videos of a transgender woman being attacked outside a skate shop in Little Five Points have surfaced and gone viral on social media. The GA Voice edited the short clips together into one video, which can be seen below (contains explicit language and violent imagery). The original clips were posted July 1 on the Vine app by a user named TriAngle SquarE and shows the victim arguing with a group of men outside Stratosphere Skateboards on Moreland Avenue. The final clip shows the victim being thrown to the ground by an assailant and stomped in the face while others watch. The short clips don’t present a clear picture of the altercation or what happened before or afterwards. Atlanta Police told The GA Voice that they did not receive an assault complaint or 911 call concerning the incident, but have asked the victim or anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward.  INtown has reached out to the Atlanta Police Department this morning to follow up. We will post any updates we receive.

  1. I just called APD to give them the victims name. They wouldn’t even take his name from me. They said there is no investigation because the victim didn’t file the proper report. Am I missing something? I wonder how many murder victims come in and file the proper report- those are still investigated.
