Poetry Atlanta, Georgia Center for the Book and Charis Books and More will present “The Horizon Leans Forward: A Reading for Maya Angelou” on Tuesday, July 15, at 7:15 p.m. The event will be held in the auditorium of the Decatur Library, 215 Sycamore St., and is free and open to the public.

Local poets and writers will be reading poems and passages from the late Angelou’s work. Confirmed readers include Cherryl T. Cooley (who appeared with Angelou on The Oprah Winfrey Show), Alice Lovelace, Theresa Davis, Teri Elam, Karen Head, Malkia M’Buzi Moore, Megan Volpert, Rupert Fike, Amena Brown Owen, Christopher Martin, Lita Hooper, Karen Paul Holmes, Kodac Harrison, Opal Moore, Lori Guarisco, Mariana McDonald, Karen Garrabrant and Dan Veach. INtown editor and poet Collin Kelley will host the event.
