Fulton County has postponed a vote on a proposed millage rate increase to hold additional public hearings. In June, the commission voted to propose a 2014 General Fund millage rate of 11.781 mills and a Bond Fund millage rate of 0.27 mills. The proposed South Fulton Tax District millage rate is 12.469 mills; this rate remains the same as the 2013 rate and affects for properties in unincorporated Fulton County. Fulton County’s current General Fund millage rate is 10.211 mills. The proposed 2014 rate would be the first increase to Fulton County’s General Fund Millage Rate since 1991.

Public hearings will be held on the following dates:
• Wednesday, July 30 at 10 a.m.
• Wednesday, July 30 at 6 p.m.
• Wednesday, August 6 at 10 a.m.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has written a letter to the Atlanta Braves asking them when they plan to vacate Turner Field, according to a report in the AJC. The Braves will move to a new stadium in Cobb County in 2017, but Reed says potential buyers and developers (including Georgia State University) are lining up to transform the Turner Field site into housing, retail and more. The Braves have until Jan. 1, 2016 to give notice on whether they’ll exit or exercise their right to an extension.
