Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 4.40.12 PMThe number of animals coming into Fulton County Animal Services (FCAS) and DeKalb County Animal Services (DCAS) has reached its maximum, and the shelters are full.

To encourage the community to adopt pets and save lives, the shelters are offering a ‘Tail End of Summer’ promotion. Throughout the month of August at FCAS, all dogs, puppies, cats and kittens are free,  while at DCAS, the adoption fee for all dog and puppies will be $20 and for all cats and kittens will be $10. Adoption counselors will be on hand at both shelters to ensure the animals are being placed in good homes.

“With 30 plus animals entering the shelter daily, we urgently need public support to help us save lives, and we’re hopeful that the public will step up and adopt from us” said FCAS Director Lara Hudson.

Adopters will receive a dog or cat that has been spayed or neutered, has had all vaccines and is microchipped – a $200 value. To view animals available for adoption visit fultonanimalservices.com or dekalbanimalservices.com.

  1. This is terribly irresponsible of Fulton County and DeKalb County Animal Services! Many FREE cats and especially dogs end up being taken by B Class Dealers (Animals used by laboratories for testing purposes are largely supplied by dealers who specialize in selling them to universities, medical and veterinary schools, and companies that provide contract animal-testing services), as well as monsters who get free animals to be used as bait dogs for dog fighting.

Not to mention, just plain and simple animal abusers sure won’t have to look far to find a victim to be sick and horrific with.

I am really disappointed with Fulton and DeKalb county. You would think they would have a little more sense and certainly take more accountability than to do this to innocent, unwanted animals.

Sure, many may go to a loving home. But I have terrible fear that many will not and end up in a horrible, barbaric and abusive situation.

Please do not throw these innocent animals into the hands of such abuse and horror. If their lives were hell before, they would surely be in one of these situations.

These are lives….FREE is just a disrespectful way to treat these animals.
