Virginia-Highland’s favorite Highland Tap will be closed starting today until Aug. 20 for a renovation project, including a new draft system with 22 tap handles, new paint, new carpet, patio improvements, stone wall restoration and an updated menu. Last Word, a contemporary American restaurant by former Woodfire Grill owner Bernard Moussa, will open this month in the old P’cheen space at Highland Walk, 701 Highland Ave. in the Old Fourth Ward.  Last Word is currently slated to open August 2014. Tickets are on sale now for the 2nd Annual Decatur Dinner Party on Sept. 6, 6:30 p.m., at Decatur Cemetery. Local chefs will prepare delicious dishes to raise money for Decatur’s Kitchen Garden – a Global Growers Project.  Decatur’s Kitchen Garden helps over 30 refugee families from in and around Decatur grow thousands of pounds of fresh food each season. This limited attendance event will feature a multi-course farm-to-table meal, live music, beer, wine and a live auction. Auction items will include VIP access to local festivals, a wine and craft beer event package, and more.
