
As another night of unrest began in Ferguson, MO in the wake of the shooting of an unarmed black teen by a white police officer, thousands of protesters peacefully rallied in Atlanta. Our media affiliate CBS46 has video of the rally at this link. Nearly 2,000 gathered outside CNN to protest the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson more than a week ago. Overnight, 31 were arrested after another night of war-zone like images showed heavily armed police clashing with protesters on the streets of Ferguson.

According to a report at Decaturish, City Commissioners on Monday, Aug. 18, approved a $25,000 contract with the Sizemore Group for annexation master planning services. It’s the same company used by City Schools of Decatur. City Manager Peggy Merriss said CSD and the city will be working together closely to stay on the same page during the planning process, which will take several months.
