Five candidates have filed to run for the District 1 seat on the DeKalb County Commission,  according to DeKalb’s  election office.

Wendy Butler and Larry Danese of Brookhaven, Nancy Jester of Dunwoody, Tom Owens of Doraville and Holmes E. Pyle of Stone Mountain filed to run for the post vacated by former Commissioner Elaine Boyer, DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections reported Sept. 10 on its web page.

Boyer resigned the day before federal prosecutors accused her of misusing county money. Boyer pleaded guilty to the charges Sept. 3 and is scheduled to be sentenced in December, according to news reports.

Qualifying for the special election being held Nov. 4 to complete Boyer’s unexpired term ended Sept. 10.
