Turner Broadcasting announced on Monday that it will cut about 1,475 jobs, which represent about 10 percent of its workforce. According to a report from CBS46, Turner will offer a buy-out package to workers age 55 or older, but the Atlanta based company said cuts will impact departments at all levels of the company in 18 locations around the world.

SAT scores dipped in Georgia this year, with students scoring an average of 1445 in 2014, down from last year’s average score of 1452.According to a report in the AJC, the overall national average for 2014 was 1497. Georgia’s mean score for critical reading was 488, math was 485 and writing was 472. More Georgia students took the exam this year — 77 percent of Georgia seniors, a 2.1 percent increase compared to 2013.

Atlanta is No. 10 in a Liberty Mutual Insurance report that ranks America’s 15 safest pedestrian cities, based on published government data and a consumer perception survey of more than 2,500 adults. Seattle is listed as the safest U.S. city for pedestrians.Read more at Atlanta Business Chronicle.
