A van riddled with bullets pulled up to the lobby of the Marriott Marquis late Wednesday night with three wounded people inside, according to a report from WSB. Police said the wounds were not life-threatening. The shooting took place on Auburn Avenue, just outside Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church. Investigators said the victims were entertainers who performed at a club on Edgewood Avenue Wednesday night and may have had a dispute with the shooter.
Around 100 people were in attendance on Monday night for a meeting with community leaders about the future of the Atlanta Civic Center property on the border of Downtown and Old Fourth Ward. City leaders said a request for proposal (RFP) to developers would be released by Oct. 15. According to Tim Hollis, president of the Fourth Ward West Neighborhood Association, said the majority of residents at the meeting wanted a mixed-use development including retail, restaurants, office and residential. He said walkability and the development being easily accessible to residents was important.
Atlanta Police have charged Lamontez Hinton, 22, with the murder of Kilon Williams, who was shot and killed on Maiden Lane in Virginia Highland on July 3. Hinton was charged with murder at Fulton County Jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges.
