If you’re looking for a Halloween costume in Atlanta, then Costumes, Etc… is a no-brainer. This gem has been going strong for 24 years since its founding by Jane Powell and her sister. The shop specializes in making costumes for theatrical productions, TV shows and movies (Vampire Diaries, The Hunger Games, Walking Dead), corporate mascots, parties and, of course, Halloween. They make most of their rental costumes in-house, and are always up for a challenge. All their costume makers are from Atlanta and they support local causes like Lost & Found, Boys & Girls Club and the Humane Society.

Recently, I met with two resident costume designers, Scott Bellomy and Todd Graham, for a grand tour of the shop located at 2138 Faulkner Road, just off Cheshire Bridge in Buckhead. It’s 10,000-square-feet of amazing. The place is a visual feast for the eyes with hundreds of wigs, masks and professional make-up kits. They’ve got Easter bunnies, Santa Clause suites, colorful contact lenses, corsets, 3D tattoos, ropes of large intestine and and tons of tiaras.

If you want a costume, get over their soon before the mad rush sets in. The shop becomes so busy in the last two weeks before Halloween that you might not be able to get the costume you want for your upcoming party. For hours and more information, visit costumes-etc.com.
