A DeKalb County judge has declared a mistrial in the corruption case against suspended DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis, according to CBS Atlanta, Reporter Newspapers’ broadcast partner.
Judge Courtney L. Johnson declared the mistrial after the jury on the 13 charges against Ellis. Ellis faced charges such as bribery and extortion. Ellis stood accused of trying to force county contractors to contribute to his re-election campaign.
The district attorney now must decide whether to re-try the case or drop it.
