The legacy lives on for the Dunwoody High School Homecoming Queen and King, who will flip the switch at Light Up Dunwoody Nov. 23.
The student body in October elected by a landslide Hannah Keen, who has Down Syndrome, and Gus Asbury, who is autistic, as the school’s Homecoming Queen and King, and they return to “flip the switch” for the Christmas tree during the annual Light Up Dunwoody, Stacey Harris said during the Nov. 2 Board of Directors meeting for the Dunwoody Homeowners Association.
This free, open-to-all, community event has been taking place to welcome the holiday season since the early 1990s. Light Up Dunwoody takes place at the Cheek-Spruill Farmhouse located at 5455 Chamblee-Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody.
The Light up Dunwoody Christmas Village opens at 3 p.m. on Nov. 23, and the event ends with the lighting of the tree at 5:45 p.m.
