An Atlanta Police officer fired a shot at a fleeing truck after the driver attempted to run him over in the Atlanta Medical Center parking deck. According to a report from our media affiliate CBS46, the incident at the Old Fourth Ward hospital began just before 8 p.m. last night when officers responded to an argument in the lobby.
The 911 caller said the argument was escalating, one of the culprits was armed and that he left the lobby headed toward the parking garage. When officers arrived and spotted the red truck in the parking garage, they attempted to stop the driver. Instead, the driver backed up and then drove directly toward an officer, nearly striking him.
The driver then drove down a ramp where he struck a second officer, causing an injury to the officer’s hand. According to the report, one of the officers fired at the truck breaking out a window. The injured officer was treated on the scene.
Police continue to look for the suspect.
