New DeKalb Commissioner Nancy Jester is sworn in on Dec. 8, 2014.

Surrounded by members of her family, Dunwoody city officials and DeKalb County officials, Nancy Jester was sworn in Dec. 8 as a new member of the DeKalb County Commission. Jester won a runoff election on Dec. 2 to claim the District 1 commission seat vacated by the resignation of long-time Commissioner Elaine Boyer. Boyer resigned before admitting to federal charges involving the misuse of county funds and is to be sentenced after the first of the year.
