Atlanta Homicide Detective David Quinn described the person who murdered two homeless men as they slept as an “evil individual” during a press conference yesterday.
Dorian Jenkins was shot on Ralph McGill Boulevard on Nov. 23, while Tommy Mims was found Nov. 26 on Northside Drive near Whitehall Street. According to ballistic tests, both men were shot with the same .45 calibre revolver, possibly a Taurus “Judge” or a Smith & Wesson “Governor.” The ammunition used hasn’t been manufactured since 2010.
Jenkins was shot five times, Mims was shot seven times, meaning the perpetrator had to reload. Quinn said their were no signs of a motive.
“We just want to make the public aware and the homeless brothers and sisters to be vigilant with each other, we also want the general public if you see people at intersections in beds alone encourage them to bunk down or camp with other people until we get a handle on what we have here,” Quinn said.
