In celebration of Arbor Day, the city of Sandy Springs will host a tree planting celebration on Friday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m. on Johnson Ferry Road at Laurian Wood Drive (the entrance to Laurian Wood subdivision).

The event culminates collaboration between neighboring communities, The Sandy Springs Conservancy and The UPS Foundation, bringing 18 Bosque Elm trees and more than 100 Trident Maples to be planted along Johnson Ferry Road, according to a press release from the city. The idea of planting trees at this location was sparked by the neighbors’ desire to replace trees lost in the widening of Johnson Ferry Road.
