The embattled former superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools, Beverly Hall, has died from breast cancer at age 68.
Hall, who was superintendent form 1999 to 2011, was facing criminal charges for her role in the standardized test cheating scandal. She was supposed to go to trial last spring, but the judge postponed due to Hall’s ongoing illness and treatment.
Hall maintained her innocence and never took the stand during the ongoing trials of other teachers and administrators involved in the cheating scandal.
