Two state lawmakers have introduced a bill to create yet another city, which would be called Winship, in DeKalb County, according to WABE. State Representatives Michele Henson (D, Stone Mountain) and Karla Drenner (D, Avondale Estates) introduced the bill this week that would residents to vote for the city in a November referendum although there is no map for the proposed city
Winship is in repines to the ongoing discussion about Atlanta possibly annexing parts of Druid Hills and its schools into the city limits. The lawmakers said the new city would give residents more options. A bill is being considered at the capitol now would allow for the city to annex portions of DeKalb into the city, not only including Druid Hills High and its feeder schools by Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control campus.
