Celebrations of soccer and barbecue are scheduled for Brookhaven Park this summer, according to Atlanta Soccerfest.

The organization plans to stage Soccerfest II, a follow-up to the program that attracted thousands of soccer fans to the park last summer to watch a giant television screen as the U.S. team played a World Cup match.

This summer, the Soccerfest II will feature FIFA Women’s World Cup games on July 4 and July 5, the organization said in a press release issued April 8.

Also on July 4, the organization will host the first Brookhaven BBQ Bash, which it says will be a Georgia BBQ Association sanctioned competition offering cash prizes totaling $10,000.

“What is more patriotic than BBQ on the Fourth of July?” Soccerfest president Craig Fanti asked in the press release announcing the event. “Add beer to that and a blues concert on the main stage, you can’t go wrong.”
