Atlanta residents, business leaders and other stakeholders will have an opportunity to ask questions about and comment on the City of Atlanta’s proposed FY16 $590 million general fund city budget during a public hearing and virtual town hall meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 18, in the Council Chamber, Atlanta City Hall, second floor, 55 Trinity Ave. The meeting will be broadcast live on City Channel 26.

Questions from participants will be answered during the live broadcast. The meeting will also be streamed on the city’s website at atlantaga.gov (click on the ATL City Channel 26 icon in the middle of the webpage and click on the words: “Watch Channel 26 Live” located on the left of the screen.)

Questions can be submitted five ways beginning today and during the live public hearing and virtual town hall meeting:

  • Participants unable to physically attend the May 18 meeting can submit questions via email to atlantacouncil@atlantaga.gov
  • Citizens can also submit their questions through twitter to @ATLCouncil and use the hashtag #ATLBudget2016

  • Questions can be phoned in to (404) 330-6775

Questions will also be taken from participants in attendance during the meeting on May 18.

A digital copy of the proposed 2015 city budget can be viewed on the City of Atlanta’s website at atlantaga.gov. Under the “government” heading, click on Department of Finance and scroll down to 2016 proposed budget document.

The budget is scheduled to be adopted by the City Council during its June 15 meeting.
