If you’re flying this holiday weekend, Hartsfield-Jackson officials are warning travelers to arrive early and expect longer delays at security. During the Memorial Day travel period, which began Thursday and continues through Tuesday, an expected 1.8 million people are expected to pass through the airport. That means arriving two hours early or more to get through security checks is highly recommended, and even more time if you plan to park. Even if you’re just dropping off or picking someone up, be sure to leave a little earlier because of expected congestion outside the terminals. The Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation has been selected as a participant in Google Fiber’s first-ever Digital Inclusion Fellowship. As part of the fellowship, the Department of Parks and Recreation will collaborate with Google Fiber and the Nonprofit Technology Network by selecting a fellow who will create digital literacy and awareness campaigns. “We’re looking for emerging local leaders who are passionate about helping people in their community,” said Andrew Bentley, Google Fiber’s Digital Inclusion Program Manager. “Through the Digital Inclusion Fellowship, these leaders will have the chance to work with organizations that are committed to getting more people online. We’re excited about the projects that the Department of Parks and Recreation and their fellow will lead, and the impact they’ll have on closing the digital divide in Atlanta.” Anyone interested in becoming a fellow should apply by June 10, 2015 through the Nonprofit Technology Network at www.nten.org/community/dif.
