Presented by Villa Albertine, the fifth edition of Night of Ideas comes back to Atlanta April 29

Night of Ideas is a free evening of discussion and debate, bringing together different voices from the civic, cultural, and policy spheres, according to a press release. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, this year’s theme is “Enlightenment Now!”

This year’s speakers include Civil Rights activist and former Mayor of Atlanta Andrew J. Young; Nicole Kruse, the vice president for development at The Carter Center;  Anne-Laure Desjonquères, consul general of France in Atlanta;  Chandra Farley, Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of Atlanta; and Nikishka Iyengar, Founder and CEO of the worker-owned cooperative The Guild.

According to the event website, this year’s event hopes to open a dialogue on “the contemporary relevance of Enlightenment ideals and the values that have long linked France and the United States: democracy, progress, the First Amendment, culture, education, and the rule of law.”

The event is presented by Villa Albertine, a French cultural institution based in the United States, in partnership with The Carter Center, Fulton County Arts & Culture’s Public Art Futures Lab, and Atlanta Design Festival.

This year’s event will take place at The Carter Center on April 29 from 6-9 p.m. The event is free, but registration is required.
