
The Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum in Grant Park will close to the public on Tuesday, June 30, as the giant painting depicting the Battle of Atlanta during the Civil War and related artifacts prepare for their move to the Atlanta History Center. A post on the Cyclorama’s Facebook page said the new Cyclorama would open in 2017. The Grant Park space will become a multipurpose event and dining facility with panoramic views of Zoo Atlanta’s savanna habitat.
A “pack” of more than 400 people riding ATVs and dirt bikes caused headaches for motorists on Sunday night as they drove recklessly through neighborhoods like the Old Fourth Ward and East Atlanta. According to Creative Loafing, two arrests have been made in the incident as officers spotted the ATV drivers running red lights and breaking other rules of the road.
The days of driving to the Alabama and South Carolina borders to buy fireworks ends on July 1 when “aerial” fireworks become legal for purchase in Georgia. That means you can buy bottle rocks, roman candles, firecrackers and more without having to leave the state. The state legislature passed a new law allowing fireworks sales earlier this year and Gov.
