From police reports dated July 12-25
The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
Robbery
1100 block of Huff Road—A man armed with a black pistol approached a man getting out of his car and demanded, “Give me all your stuff.” The man gave the gunman his wallet and keys.
100 block of Noble Creek Drive—A woman was inside a community mailbox area when she was approached by a man armed with a grey handgun. “Give me your money,” he demanded, and she threw her keys at the gunman and ran away. She knocked on several doors seeking help.
100 block of Alden Ave—Three men with handguns approached a woman, who was waiting in her car at a callbox for a condo development. One of the men pointed a gun in her face and demanded her property. She complied and surrendered a Gucci book bag, a purse and Galaxy S4 cellphone with a driver’s license case. Some of the property was recovered at the intersection of 26 and Peachtree streets.
4200 block of Roswell Road—A man with a pistol demanded money from people loading groceries into their car outside a store. One of the victims surrendered $200 and the other surrendered $300. The suspect ran away.
2500 block of Lenox Road—A man was standing in front of his apartment when a white sedan with a dealer tag drove by. A few minutes later, three men came from around the apartment building. Two of them, one armed with a silver-and-black Uzi, held guns to two victims’ heads and demanded their property. The third suspect acted as a lookout.
700 block of Sidney Marcus Boulevard—Three men robbed a man as he approached his car in an apartment parking lot. One of the suspects had a silver handgun and demanded the man’s car keys and Apple iPhone 6. The suspects entered the victim’s car and drove off. The iPhone was tracked to 336 Howell Drive, but when police canvassed the area, they did not find the car.
1200 block of West Paces Ferry Road—A woman with a money bag in her hand got out of her car at a bank. Someone ran up from behind, pushed her and snatched the bank bag belonging to the “Street Exes Studio.” The suspect was last seen entering a white Chrysler van.
300 block of Buckhead Avenue—Four people were walking down Buckhead Avenue when two men wearing bandannas ordered them to get on the ground. One of the men had a black-and-silver gun. The suspects took the women’s purses, ran down Buckhead Avenue and fled in a vehicle.
2000 block of Peachtree Road—A woman was sitting inside her vehicle talking to the male suspect, when he called the female suspect over. Once inside the vehicle, the female suspect presented a silver pistol and demanded money. The suspect went through the woman’s purse, taking an EBT card. The victimized woman was in an on-going relationship with the suspect’s boyfriend.
3500 block of Peachtree Road—As a man approached his car outside a tavern, another man, who had a silver handgun, pushed him against his car and demanded his Rolex watch. After a brief struggle, the gunman ripped the watch off the man’s wrist and ran to a black, newer model vehicle, possibly a 2013 or 2014 Cadillac.
3300 block of Peachtree Road—A man sat in his vehicle talking on the phone, when a man wearing a red bandana around his face, armed with a .22-caliber pistol, opened the passenger door, demanding “Give me the [expletive deleted] keys, your cellphone and get out!” The victim complied and was able to flag down a passerby. The man fled the scene in the victim’s black 2014 Chevy Suburban.
3600 block of Roswell Road—A strong-arm robbery was reported when an Uber driver picked up a man and two women from a bar. When they got to the intersection of Powers Ferry and Roswell roads, the man cancelled the ride and told the driver that they were not going to pay him. The suspects assaulted the driver, taking his iPhone.
3500 block of Peachtree Road—Loss Prevention witnessed two men grab a handful of trading cards and try to walk out of a discount department store without paying. When confronted, one of the men started a physical altercation with the employee. The suspect dropped the cards before fleeing the scene with the second suspect.
100 block of Terrace Drive—A man armed with a semi-automatic handgun and a dark bandana over his nose and mouth approached two people who were outside an apartment smoking cigarettes. The gunman demanded money and one of the men gave him $7.
1000 block of Summit North Drive—A carjacking was reported at a condo. A man getting out of his car, gathering bags from the back seat, was approached by a man with a revolver. The gunman pointed the gun at the victim’s head and asked, “Where’s the money?” Then he demanded, “Give me the money, where’s the money, give me the keys,” while another man rummaged through the vehicle and attempted to start it. When he could not operate the vehicle, the suspect with the handgun ordered the victim to strip. He eventually jumped into a small silver sedan that pulled up in front of the victim’s vehicle as the second man fled in the victim’s 2014 Kia Forte.
Aggravated Assault
700 block of Huff Road—A man punched the arm and threw a drink on his friend during a verbal argument.
2300 block of Woodward Way—A man attacked his mother with a knife after becoming irate during a conversation. He then proceeded to cause extensive damage to her car and the inside of the home, breaking and throwing things. He also rammed her car into the garage and drove over a 3-foot flower bed in front of the house. When police arrived, he pointed and threw a knife at them.
500 block of Northside Circle—Two people in an apartment were arguing, when one grabbed a pair of scissors and the friend’s arm. The victim received an abrasion to her forehead during the scuffle. An arrest was made.
3600 block of Roswell Road—An off-duty police officer working traffic was struck with the passenger’s side mirror on a vehicle when a woman attempted to swerve around him after being told to turn right. There was visible damage to the passenger side of the vehicle, mirror and the officer’s traffic vest. The driver was arrested.
900 block of Canterbury Road—The victims were walking home when four men got out of a black Toyota Camry and, without provocation, one of the men punched the male victim in the face and fled. As the suspect vehicle exited the parking lot, the female victim punched the trunk portion. In response, one of the suspects fired a gunshot at the victims.
2000 block of Peachtree Road—A man chased another man around the 10th floor of an apartment building saying he was “going to get him.”
1900 block of Defoor Avenue—The suspect pulled a handgun and pointed it at the victim, while the two were engaged in a verbal dispute. An arrest was made.
3200 block of Cains Hill Place—A man in a pub approached another man and attempted to provoke him to fight. When the victim walked away, the suspect hurled a glass bottle and struck him in the lip and mouth. The victim had visible injuries and was transported to Atlanta Medical Center for stitches by emergency medical services. An arrest was made.
Residential Burglary
200 block of Pharr Road—On July 22, three apartments were broken into when the back patio glass was shattered. In the first, no items were taken, but a witness reported seeing three men inside a silver vehicle parked in the space reserved for disabled drivers. A second apartment was broken into through the back patio door, and reported stolen a Dell laptop, a Sony PlayStation and an amount of currency, while residents of a third apartment unit reported stolen five wristwatches, a Toshiba TV and an Apple laptop.
100 block of 26th Street—A closet of clothing, bank papers, Social Security information and two pairs of shoes were taken from an apartment; A second apartment unit was burglarized and reported stolen a box of jewelry, a Michael Kors wallet, a set of personal checks, a yellow, orange and brown tote bag, and an iPad.
900 block of Crane Road—The rear door of a house was damaged and a 55-inch flat screen TV and two Apple MacBook Air laptops were taken.
1000 block of Garden View Drive—An Apple iMac 27-inch computer, a Nikon camera and $400 in Brazilian currency were taken.
2300 block of Arbor Gates Drive—A silver Michael Kors watch, a Lenovo Yoga Pro, a HP laptop, an Amazon Kindle Fire and several tools used to repair an air conditioner were taken from an apartment.
2100 block of Melante Drive—A Phillips TV, a Samsung tablet, a DeWalt cordless drill, a Dell laptop, an HP laptop, an Xbox 360, and $40 in currency were taken from a house. A pillow case was possibly taken.
400 block of Armour Drive—A Vizio TV and a Vio laptop were taken from an apartment.
600 block of Garson Drive—An apartment’s front door was left unlocked and a 50-inch Seiki TV and a Panasonic Blue Ray player were taken.
2000 block of Monroe Place—A 40-inch Samsung TV, a Toshiba laptop and a PlayStation 4 gaming station were taken.
1700 block of West Sussex Road—A black purse that contained a license, bank card and credit card were taken from a house.
900 block of Wildwood Road—An HP laptop, a red purse with credit cards, keys and credit cards were taken from a house. The next door neighbor later called to say she recovered all items except the laptop, money and license in her driveway.
Commercial Burglaries
2000 block of Howell Mill Road—A Buckhead Chipotle reported two burglaries in as many weeks. In the first burglary, the front door glass was damaged, several cabinets were opened, the alarm box was damaged and the interior was ransacked. A night deposit bag that contained $778 in cash and a Firewall CTI that collects credit card numbers were taken. The second burglary was reported the following week, after a hole was cut in the roof, an alarm was damaged and a hole was cut in the safe. An Envision digital recorder and $1,769 in cash were taken.
2800 block of North Fulton Drive—Four Apple Mac desktop computers were taken from the Atlanta International School after the glass door window was damaged and an interior door was unlocked.
2900 block of Peachtree Road—A patrol unit was dispatched to an audible alarm call at a bike shop. A neighbor said the suspect entered the rear door and left with a bike in hand. The bike was later recovered in some nearby bushes.
1900 block of Monroe Drive—A public storage door was propped open and luggage and stereo equipment were taken.
2500 block of Chantilly Drive—Two bikes, a HP laptop, a bed frame, two bookshelves, furniture and clothing items were taken from a public storage unit.
1800 block of Marietta Boulevard—A metal bracket used to lock a door and bolts were removed from a public storage facility and a sleeping bag filled with feces was recovered inside. A daisy dining room table, a brown wood armoire and a chest of drawers with a zigzag pattern were taken.
2700 block of Peachtree Road—An employee discovered the door to the business opened and keys lying on the floor outside the front door. Two safe deposit safes containing approximately $10,000, a surveillance camera computer and the office door were taken.
2300 block of Peachtree Road—A witness reported seeing several suspects fleeing a children’s clothing store in a white Dodge Charger, a white BMW and a black BMW.
2100 block of Cheshire Bridge Road—A patio door was found open at a café and a Hercules DJ console, various brands of liquor and a Dell laptop were taken.
Auto Theft
Between July 12 and 18, a total of 14 vehicles were reported stolen and four auto thefts attempts were reported.
Between July 19 and 25, a total of 8 vehicles were reported stolen and one attempt to steal an automobile was reported.
Thefts/Larcenies:
Between July 12 and July 18, a total of 38 thefts from automobiles were reported and an additional 32 reports of other larcenies, including shoplifting, were made.
Between July 19 and 25, a total of 35 thefts from automobiles were reported and an additional 33 larcenies, including shoplifting, were reported.
