The Atlanta BeltLine has put out a call for bids to construct the 1.25 mile extension of the popular Eastside Trail, according to a report at Curbed Atlanta.
The Eastside Trail currently stretches from Piedmont Park in Midtown to Irwin Street in the Old Fourth Ward. The new extension would take the trail behind Stove Works, under the recently renovated Edgewood Avenue bridge before arriving at DeKalb Avenue. Trail users would then make their way to the Krog Street Tunnel – which will be enhanced with new paving, lighting and railings – and then to Wylie Street. The trail will follow Wylie until it picks back up the abandoned rail corridor at Flat Shoals and continues to Memorial Drive.
Contractors interested in bidding on the project must attend a mandatory meeting on Aug. 27 and bids must be received by Oct. 13. Here’s the link to the invitation to bid on the project at the BeltLine website.
