Brookhaven K-9 Dano

Brookhaven’s K-9 Officer Dano helped his handler make a marijuana drug bust Aug. 23.

According to the department’s Facebook Page, a patrol officer saw a man making several trips to and from his car in the parking lot of a club in the 3000 block of Buford Highway.

The officer began speaking with and later identified the man as Dante Black, who had several arrest warrants originating from Gwinnett County. Black was placed under arrest at that time, but he refused to allow the officer to search the car.

The Brookhaven Police K-9 Unit responded to provide assistance. K-9 Dano and his handler conducted a “free air sniff” outside Black’s car. Dano alerted his handler for the present odor of narcotics coming from the trunk of the vehicle. Based on this information, a search warrant was obtained that resulted in the discovery of approximately 1.5 ounces of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.

  1. How very heroic. I’m sure our streets are so much safer now that an ounce-and-a-half of weed was found. This makes the news? Gimme a friggin break.

  2. What a waste of tax payers money and police time. For 1.5 oz….really? City of Brookhaven has become a police state with speed traps everywhere.
