More than 200 people packed into a meeting at the 755 Club at Turner Field to express their concerns about the redevelopment of the stadium site once the Braves vacate at the end of 2016. Community members want a study funded by the Atlanta Regional Commission to guide the redevelopment, but the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority said it may put out a call to buyers and developers as early as October. According to a report in the AJC, Mayor Kasim Reed told the crowd the ARC study might take a year and bidders were at the table now. Both Georgia State University and a casino company have expressed interest in the site, and Reed said other developers were sure to surface once the call for redevelopment was announced by the city.
