The Council on Alcohol and Drugs will be presenting tips for parents to educate teenagers about drug abuse at Dunwoody High School Oct. 27 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The high school is located at 5035 Vermack Road in Dunwoody. Both Dunwoody High School and Peachtree Charter Middle School sponsor the event.

“This is a chance to gain more knowledge and have an open discussion on what our children are facing – the challenges of staying away from drugs and how we can help them make better choices,” Adrienne Bashuk, committee chair, said in a press release.

Bashuk asks the community to come together and arm teenagers with life saving skills, the power to say “no” and how to get help when needed.

“Many of us know someone who just ‘experimented’ during his/her teenage years and it became the catalyst for an on going addiction,” the release said. “You understand how one person’s decision can impact families and relationships. Please help us bring awareness to Dunwoody, the place we are proud to call our home!”
