Officer Rashida Moore joins Dunwoody from Atlanta Police Department’s Zone 1, where she worked for five years.
She’s majoring in finance, working toward a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University. Moore has taken police training courses, such as Crisis Intervention Training, firearms training and fraud detection, Chief Billy Grogan said.
Mayor Mike Davis said during the Oct. 26 City Council meeting that swearing in police officers is “one of the better parts of the job [of mayor].”
Moore is the first female police officer in Dunwoody’s police department since 2012, Grogan said.
“I was interviewed on the radio recently and I was asked if we had any female officers and I said, ‘We’re going to get one soon,’” Davis said.
Moore worked her first day with Dunwoody Police Department Oct. 8.
