voteThe bid to create the City of LaVista Hills in north DeKalb County was voted down by a narrow margin on Nov. 3. The final count was 6,925 “no” votes to 6,789 “yes” votes.

On the other hand, the City of Tucker was approved by a vote of 3,937 to 1,389.

Allen Venet with the LaVista Hills Yes organization pushing for cityhood said in a statement to Decaturish: “We are very disappointed, but we are also proud that our efforts contributed to a vigorous debate about critical issues for DeKalb County.”
