Dunwoody residents are encouraged to nominate candidates for the 2015 Resident Sustainable Hero and Corporate Sustainable Hero awards, city officials say.

The 2015 Sustainable Hero Award is an annual campaign recognizing an individual city resident and a company or business located in Dunwoody for particular and commendable involvement and promotion of sustainable activities or programs.

The nomination period for the 2015 Sustainable Hero Award program begins Nov. 5 and runs through Dec. 18. Interested residents and area businesses can participate in the nomination process by visiting the 2015 Sustainable Hero Award online nomination portal at www.connectdunwoody.com.

Nominated individuals must be residents of Dunwoody and companies or businesses need to be licensed within the city limits in order to be included in the selection process.

Established by the sustainability committee in 2010, the Sustainable Hero Award acknowledges an individual, group or business that increased community engagement on a sustainability topic and inspired the community or its employees and peers to improve sustainable practices such as waste reduction, conservation, education or recycling efforts.

The award is based upon the key facets of the city’s vision for sustainability and promotes actions to achieve an attractive quality of life, a robust economy a thriving natural environment, healthy living, efficient government and an engaged and informed community.
