While media focus was on the drama surrounding alleged voter fraud in the LaVista Hills failed cityhood vote, one DeKalb neighborhood has been quietly annexed into the City of Atlanta.
Edmund Park, a neighborhood of 80-plus homes located on the north side of East Rock Springs Road, about a half-mile east of Morningside/Lenox Park, was annexed by the city from unincorporated DeKalb on Nov. 1. Students who live in the community will be able to start attending Atlanta Public Schools effective in January.
The community banded together and asked for the annexation and were assisted by Atlanta City Councilman Alex Wan and Atlanta School Board member Matt Westmoreland.
According to Joy Myrick and Donna Boynton, Realtors with Beacham and Company, homes built by Wilmont Williams and Hedgewood, range from $500,000 into the upper $700,000 range. “These are really great values now compared to other City of Atlanta/Morningside Elementary homes,” Myrick said. “We currently have two listings in the subdivision and have sold over 20 homes in there.”
