Dunwoody City Councilman John Heneghan added a note to a guest post by Mayor-elect Denis Shortal, saying council members Lynn Deutsch, Terry Nall and he will also swear in Jan. 4.

Heneghan then joked about the Georgia law that requires swearing council members are not members of the Communist Party and he linked to a video from 2012 where audience members laughed at the line.

Nall said the Dunwoody charter has an oath, but “Georgia law also dictates a disavow oath.”
