An unlocked front door at Phipps Plaza allowed a group of people to walk into the Buckhead mall and attempt to steal from the Gucci store, according to a report from the Atlanta Police Department.

Surveillance cameras taped three vehicles — a burnt orange newer model Chevy Camaro, a silver Ford Fusion and a silver Toyota Camry — pulling up to the front entrance of Phipps Plaza at about 4:30 a.m.

“Approximately nine subjects entered the mall through an unlocked front door,” states an APD report.

After gaining entrance into the mall, the group then tried to break through the Gucci store’s door. Despite causing “significant damage” they were unable to make their way into the high-fashion store.

The group left the scene in their cars and police are on a citywide lookout for the vehicles.
