A more pedestrian-friendly streetscape is coming to Roswell Road in Sandy Springs as a six-month project to improve sidewalks, street trees and lighting is set to begin Mon., Feb. 22.
The $2.8 million project will improve the sidewalks on both sides of Roswell between Cliftwood and Hammond Drives in downtown Sandy Springs. A top feature is installing nine-foot-wide sidewalks. Plans show some large trees near Cliftwood will be preserved by running the sidewalk behind them rather than in front as it is today.
The city says the work will take place mostly at night and the early morning, between 9:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., and will require some lane closures. The city has a web page about the project here.
