
The city of Brookhaven has released a timeline for bridge construction at Murphey Candler and Briarwood parks, weather permitting, that are part of the recently completed Park Master Plans process, according to city spokeswoman Ann Marie Quill.
Murphey Candler Bridge
March 11: Draft bridge layout review with Parks Department and Permitting
March 25: Construction documents submitted to Permitting
March 25-April 8: Permitting review
April 15-22: Solicit contractor pricing
Early May: Award bid
Late May-June: Bridge construction
Briarwood Park Bridge

The City Council in January approved spending no more than $336,790 to replace both bridges.
The Murphey Candler bridge was seriously damaged by a falling tree in November. Total cost to repair the bridge is $309,740 with $100,000 of that total paid through an insurance claim.
Briarwood Park’s bridge is estimated to cost $177,050 with $50,000 of that total budgeted last year.
